What should this client pay at your rate?
Multiply the hours each person spends on the client by that person’s rate an hour, and add them up: that is what the work is worth at your rates. Set it beside the fee you charge, and the difference shows how much of the time’s value the fee recovers, in rupees and in rupees an hour.
Example figures: replace them with yours. The sums happen in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere or saved.
How to read it
- Worth at your rates: each person’s hours at that person’s rate, added up.
- Recovered: the fee as a share of that worth. Below 100%, part of the time’s value is not billed.
- A fair fee: the worth at your rates, rounded up to the next ₹5,000, as a starting point for the conversation with the client.
Doing this for every client
rulee.in’s Fees review does this sum for every client from the hours your team logs: each client’s fee for the year, the hours, and the rate an hour, judged by your firm’s rate or by your rate card, person by person, with the realisation shown. For any client, a Propose box gives the fee at your rate (hours × the rate, rounded up to the next ₹5,000), and a fee revision letter is drafted on the client’s card for the partner to edit and send. Nothing is sent automatically, and the rate is never printed on a letter. The Fees review is on the Basic plan (₹899 a month for the whole firm, plus GST) and above.
Frequently asked questions
How is a fair fee worked out?
Multiply the hours each person spends on the client by that person’s rate an hour, and add the results. That is what the work is worth at your rates. A fee at or above that figure recovers the time; a fee below it leaves part of the time’s value unbilled.
What is realisation?
The fee as a share of what the hours are worth at your rates. A fee of ₹1,20,000 for work worth ₹1,92,000 at your rates is a realisation of 63%.
Is anything I type sent or saved?
