Free Excel templates for CA and CS firms
Two free Excel registers for a practice: a DSC register that counts down to every certificate’s expiry, and a UDIN register that keeps each UDIN with the document and the work it certifies. Both are plain .xlsx files with no macros, with lists in the cells, date checks and a How to use sheet.
DSC register .xlsx
- Client, signatory, DIN or PAN, certifying authority, class, type, issue and expiry dates, status, who holds the token and where it is kept.
- Days to expiry works itself out from today: amber within 90 days, red once expired.
- The same columns as rulee.in’s DSC import, so the file uploads as it is when you move in.
UDIN register .xlsx
- UDIN, client, PAN, document type and description, document date, generated on, AY or FY, signed by, the task it belongs to, and Active or Revoked with the date and reason.
- A Check column flags a UDIN that is not 18 characters, a revoked one without its date, and one not yet tied to a task.
What should this client pay at your rate?
A calculator, not a download: the hours each person spends on a client, at each person’s rate, against the fee you charge. It works in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.

In rulee.in the DSC register keeps the custody log, who took a token out and when it is due back, and shows certificates expiring within 90 days on the Dashboard. The UDIN register fills itself from the ICAI portal’s List UDIN download, and an audit or certificate task can require its UDIN before it is completed or invoiced. Both are on every plan, Free included.
Frequently asked questions
Are the templates really free?
Yes. Both registers are free to download, use and share. They are plain Excel files with no macros, and nothing is needed to open them except Excel or any spreadsheet program that reads .xlsx.
Can the DSC register be moved into rulee.in later?
Yes. Its first fourteen columns are the columns of the DSC register import in rulee.in. Once the clients are in rulee.in, upload the file at Registers, DSC, Import, with the example row deleted.
Does rulee.in import UDINs from the ICAI portal?
Yes. Download List UDIN from the ICAI UDIN portal as Excel and upload that file to the UDIN register in rulee.in as it is. Each UDIN is matched to its client by PAN.
